Family Health Promotion and Ubuntu Nation Malawi Strengthen Partnership Through Community Hygiene Initiative

Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi

Partnership and unity are powerful drivers of healthier communities. Family Health Promotion (FHP) continues to believe that lasting public health improvements are achieved when organizations work together toward a common purpose.

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting hygiene and disease prevention, Family Health Promotion volunteers joined the dedicated team of Ubuntu Nation Malawi in a community hygiene and sanitation activity at the Ubuntu compound in Dzaleka Refugee Camp. The initiative reflected a shared vision of creating a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for all.

More than a routine cleaning exercise, the activity served as a demonstration of teamwork, solidarity, and community responsibility. Volunteers from both organizations worked side by side, sharing knowledge, strengthening relationships, and reinforcing the importance of collective action in protecting public health.

Founded by Mr. Elie Zagabe and locally led by Mr. Placide Basinza, Family Health Promotion recognizes that strong partnerships are essential to addressing the health challenges facing refugee communities. Collaborations such as this one create opportunities to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and expand the impact of community-based initiatives.

At a time when many humanitarian organizations have scaled back or suspended activities because of funding constraints, Ubuntu Nation Malawi continues to stand alongside refugees and vulnerable community members. Their unwavering commitment to serving the community has brought hope and practical support to many families, demonstrating the importance of sustained humanitarian engagement.

Family Health Promotion extends its sincere appreciation to the Ubuntu Nation Malawi team for their warm welcome, collaboration, and dedication to improving the lives of refugees. Together, both organizations reaffirmed that every individual and every organization has a role to play in promoting public health and building resilient communities

FHP remains committed to strengthening partnerships, supporting community initiatives, and working with like-minded organizations to create lasting positive change. Through collaboration, service, and shared responsibility, we can continue building healthier communities where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
